The first side effect of taking dietary supplements is felt as lightness in your wallet. They’re a waste of money. If a doctor hasn’t prescribed a supplement you’re better off without it because you don’t need it.
Supplements are also rather risky. The entire industry is an under-regulated behemoth. When you take dietary and herbal supplements you are getting:
- An unknown dose of an unknown chemical
- at an unknown purity
- with unknown contaminants
It’s shockingly common for supplements to not have any of the labeled ingredient at all.
Not beneficial except in very limited circumstances. And potentially harmful.
